What to Expect in the YouWiN! Connect 2017 second stage.

YouWiN Connect Online Training, what participants must know

If you have just been shortlisted for the next stage of the YouWiN! Connect 2017, I want to congratulate you once more. I am sure one of the things topmost in your minds right now amidst the joys of being successful in this stage is "what would the online training look like? never mind, I have a solution for you.

This is probably the first time the YouWiN is adopting an online training method, but it certainly isn't the first time online training is being used to train entrepreneurs in Nigeria. But never mind I got you covered on this one.

Here is what to expect in the upcoming online training;

(NOTE: These are not official information or instructions from the YouWiN Connect team. They are only my opinion based on the previous competitive online training I have been involved in and online courses I have taken. Consider these as some intelligent guess from an experience)

1. The training will be online so you will need some internet utility skills. If you don’t have, it’s going to be a bit difficult for you. This is not the cyber café thing; else you will spend a whole lot. Your best bet is to quickly find someone who can brush you up on how to use a computer system or mobile phone to use the internet.

2. Secondly, because it is internet-based, you will need to shell out some data. Again using/depending on the cyber café will be a no-go area. The classes will not last anything less than four weeks, and you will likely have multiple tasks to be completed in a week.

3. The training will be preloaded (meaning the will not be delivered live) and arranged in modules. For instance, Access to Finance may be a separate module from Access to market, as well as Business Competitiveness, Business Strategy, etc.

4. Another point you will need to note is that the training will not just be teaching, there are going to be tasks and assignments to be completed. Also, there might as well be module-specific assessment and these will make up for the evaluation of each participant.

5. Because this training is competitive (less than 10% of the 55,500 will eventually make it), there may be time lapse for each module and each task/assignment. So you will not just need to perform each task correctly, you will also need to do them within the specified time.

6. You are running a race to be the only person chosen from 55 people in this competition, or to be among the best 5000 persons out of 55,500 people that have been shortlisted. Any mistake you make matters.
7. You may be required to engage with other participants via an online forum or social media.

My team and I are currently working out an arrangement to assist a few people through this stage of the competition. You will need to trust me on this, just like the few people I have helped through this stage of the YouWiN! Connect. Get updated on this arrangement by liking my Facebook page here StarUp Solutions or join my special YouWiN! Group on Facebook. Simply search ‘YouWiN! Connect Info’ on Facebook, click on ‘Join’ and answer a few simple questions about yourself.
