NPOWER 2017: How to Check Your Name and Avoid Costly Mistakes

Congratulations to all the 2017 Applicants! I mean; what a wait! It was almost like forever. But then the N-power has announced through its social media channels that names will be released by close to midnight on Monday, 20th and N-power applicants will be able to check on the N-power website if they have been successful in the pre-selection.

Remember this will not be the final list as there will be physical verifications at your local governments for all the items necessary for enrolment in the N-power programme.
Remember the whole journey? Online application, BVN Validation, Assessment test and all that and now by Monday, pre-selection would be completed.

But then a lot of people are asking how they would check their names.
Well after uploading the list on the internet, and test running it, the N-power will be able to let us know how applicants will log in to check their names. But it surely will have to be a combination of any two of the following information that you provided during registration; Your BVN, Surname, First Name, Middle Name, Date of Birth or Phone Number. It is not likely that N-power will opt for any of the information that is general like Your State or LGA. Being a discrete institution, I trust them to not be that open.  They can also request that you use your Unique registration code.

Please take note of the following;
1. If you hold NCE or OND, make sure you have the certificate or statement of result to be presented for Physical Verification.
2. If you hold a Degree or HND, make sure your degree or HND Certificate or statement of results and your NYSC Discharge Certificate are available for presentation for Physical Verification.
3. Therefore, if you have not met the conditions stated above, and other criteria for N-power engagement, you would be saving yourself energy and resources by not showing up. be smart enough to not present yourself for verification. The competition is high, and there would be no room for excuse.
4. The N-power is for unemployed GRADUATES. Therefore employed graduates including serving corps members, non-graduates and students will not be considered. So if you fall into any of these categories, stay clear of the verification venue. Whether or not your name was shortlisted.

For potentially successful applicants, please take the following precautions

Protect your Login Details
With the information you have read above, you need to protect this information of yours, especially your BVN and your Phone number, and your N-power Unique Code. I see a lot of people freely drop their numbers, BVN other vital information on the N-power page in the name of “rectify this or that for me”, even existing Volunteers. Please, stop sharing your private information online or on social media. If there is anywhere you have done that in the past, trace it and delete it if you can. The truth is that fraudsters are all over the internet, looking for a way to scam the vulnerable. So please be smart.

Be careful when you use Cyber Café or ask someone to help you out
Especially for the successfully verified, you will be required to update your NPVN profile. This is where you will supply essential information that will be used for payment of your monthly stipend. Most of you would quickly rush to a cyber café, drop your details and money with them and then say ‘please help me fill it I cannot wait” or sometimes it the dubious ones that will tell you they are busy now or that the network is busy at the moment, why not drop your details, I will do it later. Please for your own good, this is not good. Experience from the N-power 2016 shows that some people had different names in their profiles and different bank details, and as such, N-power could not pay them. For those of them who didn’t know, their payment is still pending or they may have even been removed from the programmes for failure to rectify their issues. The possibilities are that some of the people that they asked to help them complete their NPVN profiles compromised, and instead of filling in the applicant’s bank details, filled in their own bank details instead. It is also possible that after, filling in the candidate’s correct details before them when they left, they reverted them to their own since they had the login details. So be careful in using the cyber café. It is best to use your mobile phone or personal PC. If you must use the cyber café, make sure you type in your Login details yourself, and uncheck the “Remember My Password” just below the “Sign In” or “Login” button. You can also ask someone you trust who knows internet utility well to help you.

I made this post about two weeks ago and I can’t tell you how important it is for every 2017 N-power Volunteer to read it. Even if you have read it before, I suggest you read it again. You can’t afford to make a mistake due to lack of sufficient information, even when that information is readily available for free. Do not joke about this opportunity, it might be a lifeline for your career and business breakthrough.

And then share! If you find the information here helpful, share with people in the groups you belong to.

Make sure the account Name in your bank account tallies with the one in your BVN
Especially for those who had more than one bank accounts before the BVN registration, it is possible that the names in your different bank accounts do not tally. Banks do not change those names to match your BVN Name. Your BVN name most likely corresponds to the Bank account where you did BVN enrollment. So if you have an account with names different from the name on your BVN, that is not the best account to use for your NPVN profile.
